Wow, so much has changed since the last entry?!
I’ll do a quick recap of events from then, up to now. This first entry will be about BRUCE, since it has a lot of info.
In November 2007, BRUCE embarked on an almighty adventure in Fountain. Syndicate was getting old, so we looked at our options. ISS moved into Fountain and started to secure the stations for the GBC. Due to some miscommunication, they were told to pickup and leave. BoB had intended for RISE to take the space. Because of this and sov mechanics, there was no sov protecting the stations for a couple of days.
We assembled at the time, what was probably the largest BS fleet in EvE. We had over 450 BS’s in the fleet, plus support. We had a war dec with MC at the time, and they thought it was for them as they had a Titan in the area ;) Well, part of the BS fleet got DD’s in Syndicate but the fleet moved on. A total of around 400 BS’s ended up in Fountain with the fleet.
So, we hit the station that was vulnerable and flipped it. We then brought in our caps and took out the RISE POS’s. There were only 9 moons in system, and some were empty. This began our days in Fountain :) We started to bring everything we had into system, and held it.
I believe it was about 2 weeks later, the NC showed up. Their goal was to remove BoB gear from Fountain. While we wanted to stay neutral to both parties, helping the NC meant that we could take more space much faster, and help secure out place in Fountain. Over the next 2 months, all GBC POS’s were removed and stations taken over. Shortly after the new year, NC forces withdrew back to the north as the assault on Delve grinded to a halt.
Thus, we began to secure our little area of Fountain. Which was about 1/2 of it at the time. Stations systems of PNQY, 7BX and U-SO. Industry was being setup, Fountain for the most part was under blue control. Frequent visitors help keep people on their toes ;)
Fast forward a couple of months, Goons wanted to make a big push on Delve. We asked what the plan was, and they said just keep sending ships into the grinder… we’ll eventually win. No clear cut objectives or plan was around. Goons themselves were having attendance issues due to the boring POS warfare at the time. We decided that we would stay out, until a good plan was developed for Delve.
Shortly after, goons didn’t like the answer so the sent in their cloaking squads. They harassed us for a few weeks, then finally withdrew as something came up. Shortly after they left, PL arrived in Fountain… Long standing BRUCE policy was no red towers in our area of operation. When we found out of a PL tower going up in Fountain, we took action. PL was able to man the towers with gunners, and we suffered some of our first capital losses in Fountain.
PL approached us for an agreement, which we declined. They slowly started to chip away at our network. Unknown to us at the time, FOOM (The Executor corp of BRUCE) had decided to leave, and was removing their gear as they had time. One of FOOM’s directors, had a long time friend in PL. They were given admin access to our forums and vent at that time. From then on, negative posts were being made on the forum… and they were always listening in on Vent.
After a couple of weeks, they released Fried’s pre-written “I’m calling it quits” letter to the forums. This took many by surprise and caused some tugs on people’s motivation to play. After Fried/FOOM left, we tried to regroup but several set backs took place. Our first pole, showed almost everyone wanting to stay and hold it. But as it turns out, most corps just said that to buy some time and move out their gear.
There what I would call 3 major thefts at the end of BRUCE. First one being by Marcus Malos, who took about 18b worth of POS fuels and isk. 2nd one being hisgoatness, who stole all of the alliance reimbursement stocks. 3rd one, was basically Fried himself stealing back the alliance he left. During the transfer, he never gave back all the shares to the holding corp. He then voted himself back in as CEO and took roughly 15b in isk and alliance assets at that time.
We had already removed around 18b from the alliance wallet before that took place for security. At that time, we decided enough was enough and time to move on. The isk that was saved was divided up to each corp still in BRUCE at the end. So marked, the end of an era.
A few of the corps survived and still live on today. Most have closed up completely due to loss of participation after the events at the end of BRUCE.
